Dancheong Dance Mural

DANCHEONG DANCE

"Dancheong Dance" is a mural by Lia Coleman, with painting and video assistance from Brooke Cheng and Evan Chiles. It is on view in Seattle's South Lake Union, on the 5th floor of the Facebook Seattle Arbor Blocks 300 building.

Lia: We painted this over the course of 4 weekends in June. There's about 50 hours worth of work here. It's cool to watch the sun move across the floor as we paint. This mural is based off of temples I saw in Seoul. The color palette is called Dancheong, and includes 5 traditional colors which are very bright and lively. I designed this mural to fit the space. It is right outside of the meditation room, so it is fitting that the mural is based off of Korean and Chinese temples.
